The Financial Controller – Internal and External Reporting has responsibility for ensuring the accurate and efficient accounting, consolidation and external reporting for Whitbread PLC and related undertakings. This role will Lead the Internal and External Reporting & Technical Accounting teams to deliver an efficient and effective service to all its internal and external customers. You undertake these accounting & reporting tasks under the financial control framework ensuring controls are adhered to, monitored and evidenced.

What you’ll be doing:-
- Responsibility for the production of Whitbread Group statutory accounts (interim and full year)
- To manage the process that ensures Whitbread accounting policies are in line with accounting standards and that they are consistently applied by brand finance teams.
- Responsibility for production, review, and successful completion of trading subsidiary statutory accounts
- Provide accounting technical advice within Whitbread.
- Responsibility for Whitbread specific monthly and technical accounting.
- Responsibility for controlled period close process and production of Whitbread periodic P&L and Balance Sheet.
- Manage a high performing team, providing strong leadership and customer service focus (both internally and externally).
- Ensure compliance to all internal and external regulatory/legal requirements.
- Financial Control Framework and control owner.
Minimum requirements:-
- Qualified Accountant (ACA) with PQE
- Detailed knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP
- Knowledge of mutli-currency consolidation processes including ERP systems
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong system skills
- Strong presentation skills
- Excellent technical accounting skills and ability to communicate to a variety of audiences including CFO/Audit Committee
- Understanding of direct and indirect taxes
- Performance of technical research on complex IFRS accounting matters
- Experience of planning and delivering audit process
- Preparation of papers and reports for Board/Audit Committee
- Financial reporting role for a FTSE 100, or equivalent company
