Our part-time jobs give students like you the opportunity to earn, develop skills and learn about the extraordinary world of hospitality while studying. We don't do zero-hours contracts, we do let you move your job when it comes to going home in-between terms. Plus, if you want it, there's the very real prospect of a full-time job when you graduate.

And there’s more. Your part-time role doesn’t have to become your full-time role. If you fancy moving to another area of our business, in another part of the country, well we might just be able to make it happen. Check out our roles here…

Benefits and discounts

Pay structure on your terms

When it comes to pay, we like to think we’ve got it right. Right from the start you’ll be on a very healthy wage, but we also make it very clear what you can do to up your pay. For example, as you complete each stage of training, you’ll earn that little bit more. In effect, the more you train, the more you’ll gain. We think that’s a fair deal.

The stuff you’d expect

Obviously, you’ll be getting that competitive wage, but beyond that there’s also our Sharesave scheme. And then there’s our pension. Sure, it might seem odd thinking about your retirement when you are just setting foot in the world of work, but saving a little now is the responsible thing to do. What’s more, we’ll contribute to it too.

How we do things

Shift working

You’ve got lectures to attend, coursework to finish and exams to study for. Not to mention enjoying everything else life has to offer. Which is why we like shift work. Just a little planning and it can work around your schedule.

Your hours

Your hours will depend on your role, but we’ll always be mindful of your studies and be flexible about how often you work and when. It’s not all about us. We want you to be doing great at college or university too.

Your work environment

You’ll see and hear us talk about family quite a lot. But that’s what we strive for and that’s what it feels like. Working (hard) alongside people you genuinely care for each other, have a laugh with each other and almost certainly become good friends with one another. There’s no real secret to it. We just make sure we hire good people who enjoy working towards the same goals.

Levels of responsibility

This’ll depend on you, your aspirations and what you want to do around your studies. If you want more responsibility it’s there, but at the same time our trainers will ensure you never feel overwhelmed. Simply put, we’ll work it out together.

How we do things

Tamsin Copland

I'm Tamsin. I'm 17 and currently studying Biology, Chemistry and Psychology at college. My plan is to go on to study Radiography at University and then become a Radiographer in the RAF.

Just over a year ago I got a housekeeping role at Premier Inn because I wanted to earn some money while I studied, before uni. I thought it would be a good place to work as it looks better on your CV than just working at a random hotel or pub, because of the name. I was also aware of how many different jobs you can do there, so I knew there was a lot I could learn. The wage is pretty decent as well compared to other places!

I work part-time in housekeeping. I like it, but I’ve been told that as soon as I’m 18 I can work in other areas like the bar or reception. My managers are really clear with what I’m supposed to be doing and they’re caring, so they want me to be happy. When I first started, I was mainly just cleaning rooms, but after 6 months they gave me the responsibility to perform room checks. That meant I was in charge of making sure some rooms were up to standard. I’ve really enjoyed this extra duty ever since, and it felt good to be trusted so quickly.

I normally only work weekends because I have quite a structured schedule in the week. But, if I want to pick up extra shifts or change mine, my managers are really understanding. Like when I was learning to drive, they were so flexible with me which really helped. It also means I won’t have to stress about planning my time around revision for my exams next year! I feel like whatever is going on in life, my managers will always try to find a way to make my shifts work for me. While my work is quite flexible, I know I will get my two shifts a week at least, so I still feel stable because I know I can earn as much as I need.

I feel supported, no matter what happens. My managers actually care about me as a person. Also, you can’t get training like you do here anywhere else for people my age. I know that the skills I’m learning will be really useful in life, like interacting with customers and other team members. I especially love interacting with the customers! Because it’s a popular hotel you get people from all over coming to stay, all with their own stories and it’s really interesting getting to know them.

I really like the people I work with. Everyone in hospitality is so lovely. Just genuinely nice people. The managers care and even Area Managers! Our Area Manager comes to chat with everyone and the first time we met he asked me what my ambitions were and how my mangers are supporting me to reach them. So it all feels very warm and caring.

My job gives me the support I need right now and I know that it will allow me to progress for as long as I want.
