We're looking for a Platform Services Engineer to join our Engineering Team at Whitbread, supporting the technology that powers our hotels and restaurants frontline operations. Our team is responsible for the design, development, testing, deployment, and continuous improvement of high-performing, reliable platforms that evolve with the needs of the business.
You'll help shape the future of hospitality technology by driving innovation across our hotel and restaurant systems. From monitoring system health and resolving performance issues to optimizing our technology investments, your work will directly impact the experiences of our team members and guests alike.
As our go-to expert, you’ll build, manage, and optimise core systems such as Azure, Microsoft 365, and CoPilot. You'll take ownership of the codebase, enhance internal tools, and dive deep into root causes to ensure our platforms run smoothly and efficiently.
Role: Platform Services Engineer
Package: From £70,00pa plus up to a 30% bonus
Contract Type: Full-Time and Permanent
Location: Whitbread Court, Houghton Regis, Bedfordshire and working to a hybrid way of working with coming to the office a minimum of 3 times a week.

What you’ll be doing:
- You will help drive the vision and technology for our hotels of the future, by working with our frontline systems to help develop and drive innovation, monitor system health, resolve performance issues, and optimize technology investments.
- Work closely with architecture, infrastructure, and development teams to design and build scalable, efficient solutions using Microsoft technologies and other vendor platforms. Leverage existing building blocks to optimise and extend Whitbread’s frontline worker platforms. Take ownership of coding, building, and delivering high-quality, maintainable solutions that meet operational needs.
- Skilled in leveraging the Microsoft stack (Azure, Power Platform, M365) to integrate systems and automate workflows. Comfortable using low-code/no-code tools like Power Automate and Logic Apps alongside custom development to streamline frontline operations and enhance productivity
- Provide fault isolation and resolution for complex challenges to limit and address issues promptly.
- Works at an advanced level to compile and decompile programming code. Typically works independently and provides guidance
- Design and execute tests on technology systems, platforms, infrastructure, networks, and databases, ensuring they meet performance standards. Respond to user queries and emails to diagnose, address, and resolve issues, providing actionable feedback for improvements.
What you’ll need:
- Experience in designing, building and maintaining scalable, reliable and secure platform services that support applications and infrastructure
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code Tools (e.g. Terraform or Ansible) to automate infrastructure management. Working in agile methodology across platforms and teams. The ability to quickly identify and resolve issues, analysing problems, developing solutions, and implementing them efficiently. Drive operational stability, efficiencies and maintain security standards.
- Agile Methodology - agile collaboration and delivery practices are critical for responsiveness, iteration, and stakeholder engagement.
- Proficiency with cloud services like AWS and Microsoft Azure.
- Containerisation and Orchestration experience with Docker and Kubernetes for managing containerised applications.
- Proficiency in scripting languages i.e. Jav Script, Python, Java, C# (Java Script would be preferred)
